Any election will not fulfill the aspirations of the people: Abdullah Mohammad Taher
Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has said that if there is no complete reform, doubts will arise among the people regarding the next national parliamentary elections. He said, “If there is doubt among the people regarding the elections, then there will be doubts whether the people will participate in the elections spontaneously or not. These elections must be held on the basis of complete reforms. Any election will not be able to fulfill the aspirations of the people.”
Any election will not fulfill the aspirations of the people: Abdullah Mohammad Taher
He told reporters after the ‘Electoral Responsibility Rally’ organized by the Comilla Metropolitan Jamaat at the auditorium of an entertainment center located in the Dhulipara area of Comilla city on Friday morning. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher was the chief guest at the rally. Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, “We want a participatory, fair, free and impartial election. This election will be held with the participation of all legitimate parties without tyranny. Before that, a level playing field must be ensured. All political parties have reached a consensus on many issues of reform. The election must be held on the basis of these reforms. If the election is to be held on the basis of these reforms, a legal basis for the reform must be created. I urge the Chief Advisor to clarify this to the nation. At the same time, it is important to organize a dialogue with political parties for fair elections.’
Describing the Jatiya Party as an ally of the Awami League’s fascism, Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, ‘We think that the people will no longer accept the Jatiya Party. The Awami League will be rehabilitated through the Jatiya Party, this is a very intellectual review that has no resemblance to reality. We, all the parties outside the BNP, are trying to hold a compromise election, and the Jatiya Party will not be included in it.’
Abdullah Mohammad Taher also commented that when martyred President Ziaur Rahman voted ‘yes’ or ‘no’, there was no parliament. He further said, ‘If any party thinks they will definitely win, then it is understood that they have made a mechanism to win, which will make them win. They will not need any more votes. And if someone wants to win before the vote, then it is understood that they are trying to hold an election like 14, 18 and 24.’
Jamaat’s Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Comilla regional team member Professor Liaquat Ali Bhuiyan, Comilla Metropolitan Jamaat Nayeb-e-Amir Muhammed AKM Emdadul Haque Mamun, Assistant Secretary Kamaruzzaman Sohel, Mosharraf Hossain, Nasir Ahmed Mollah and others addressed the rally under the chairmanship of Comilla Metropolitan Jamaat Secretary Muhammed Mahbubur Rahman.
